Private-car pickup
- Traveler
- Wait outside the terminal with bags before you ask the driver to enter the curb.
- Driver
- Use the Cell Phone Lot until the traveler is ready, then make an active curb pickup.
The driver is coming from Highway 280
Cell Phone Lot approach
- Traveler
- Call only after you are outside with baggage and the curb meetup is possible.
- Driver
- Use SFO’s signed 280-to-380 route to the Cell Phone Lot instead of circling the terminal roadways.
A terminal-loop meetup is too congested
Kiss & Fly alternative
- Traveler
- Take AirTrain to the Rental Car Center Kiss & Fly area only if that is the agreed meeting point.
- Driver
- Use Kiss & Fly as an off-terminal drop-off or meetup alternative, not as a curb waiting area.
The traveler has checked baggage
Baggage-aware pickup
- Traveler
- Do not signal for curb pickup until bags are collected and you are outside.
- Driver
- Stay at the Cell Phone Lot while baggage is collected; the airport does not permit waiting on a curb.

Important details
SFO’s Cell Phone Lot is not overnight parking
The lot is a free, attended, short-stay option with a 60-minute limit and nightly closure. Use terminal parking if the plan requires a longer wait.
The curb is a handoff, not a waiting place
SFO expects the arriving party to be outside before the driver reaches the curb. Coordinate bag collection before the car enters the terminal loop.
